People may want to take this with a truckload of salt but I found this post on the official Metallica board in a thread discussing the Download festival at Donington park, England.

Latest news in the office this morning
Friday - RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE
Saturday - AC/DC
Sunday - AEROSMITH (possibly without Tyler, they have a back up singer on stand by but have signed up for the gig anyway)

Hmm that's an interesting find, but I don't think it's true as of now. I've pretty much been keeping track with the 2010 line-up announcements for Download Festival, because some of my favourite bands are going to play there this year. Aerosmith have not been mentioned anywhere so far, however. I just double checked the official DF site and they don't have anything concerning Aerosmith on there, either. _________________

Talk on the Download Festival forum about them maybe headlining the Sunday.
If they do have a European tpur planned it would make sense as it is Donington's 30th anniversary.
Would love a date at the O2 Arena or or somewhere similar but I guess this all depends on Steven Tyler and whether Joe Perry still wants to replace Steven Tyler.
Do you really think someone would pay Aerosmith to headline anything without Steven? Or at least without knowing for sure who is going to be singing? I doubt it. _________________ Nurture the weird.

Hi Aeroswede
AC/DC are headlining on Friday & playing Stuttgart on Sunday - so the Liverpool person is indeed talking nonsense.
Are you going to Donington? How bout you Midnight Lady? Anyone else?
I wish I could so bad!!! I want to goooo! There's a bunch of totally amazing bands playing there this year!!! But it's right around the days of my school leaving final exams (June 11 to 13). I either have the exams in that exact week or the week after that.
If I didn't have to take the exams I would SO be at Donington this year!!
Well, next year then! _________________

Heard on Rock Radio this afternoon that Aerosmith are indeed believed to be playing some Eurofestivals this summer, so maybe the Liverpool person wasn't so far out after all?
An announcement is due to be made this coming Monday _________________ Denim 'n' leather

Don't know how valid/useful/reliable this is but...
I received an email from ticketmaster today (Feb 19th) about upcoming shows and there was a link to book tickets for Download 2010, and Aerosmith were being mentioned.
However, when I clicked on the link, the page was no longer available!
Make of that what you will!!
Here's hoping that the band can get their collective arses in gear, Tyler can get his ego/drug dependency in check and we can see them on UK soil one last time! Let's celebrate 40 yrs properly eh?

Since my last post about the rumour of Aerosmith playing Download this year, I've seen confirmation on the official Download website and in the pages of Kerrang!
Yet there is no mention on AF1 (where you'd expect to hear news like this before anyone else - otherwise why would I pay my annual subscription to the site????)
C'mon AF1! What gives? Is there any truth to the rumours? Why the silent treatment of the fans??
In the meantime, am I supposed to buy my ticket from Download or will there be something offered via AF1? (and thus justifying my annual subscription?) I don't want to miss out on seeing the band play in the UK again (christ knows we've had to wait in the past and who knows when they'll visit again!)
Am I the only person who finds the whole thing annoying/confusing? What does anyone else think?
